To start 2007 I used a journal I'd been saving for a travel journal. It has lovely greenish pages: Twin Rocker Simon's Green paper. It is fabulous to paint on in gouache. The journal was a bit large (approx. 7 x 9, and a bit thick) but it was worth it to carry it around.
On this day I sketched a pair of the foam earplugs I wear when I'm sleeping (in the last few months any little noise wakes me up). On the opposite page of the spread I recorded a conversation I had about ear plugs moments after I had painted them, that's really all I can say about the title, "Choices." I love the way the toned paper makes the lavender of the ear plugs pop! And I love that I have friends who think deeply about all sorts of things, including ear plugs. |
