I do spend a lot of time at the Bell Museum sketching. These snow geese were sketched a couple weeks after the sketching class I taught. Someday I may actually sketch the entire diorama! I posted this page spread because I wanted to show the prepainted pages (all that golden yellow) and how it worked with the subject. I did a whole series of prepainted pages like this and each has a different snow goose on it. While I was painting a young boy came by and kept asking me to turn the page and start another one. I didn't because I was still painting, but I did talk with him and he left convinced that he could paint birds too.
(I'm in a new journal, another 7 x 5 inch Strathmore Aquarius II; I may have to bind some more journals like this. This is a very handy size and fits nicely in my large fanny pack with all my other gear.) |
