I shouldn't say I don't have live things at home to draw. I have lots of Lake Superior rocks (one might say tons?). They have always been very alive for me and I enjoy drawing and painting them. But my eyes have to be really crispy and to compensate for the lack of "crispy eyes" I went very loose in both the rock and the surounding paint strokes (all gouache).
The text excerpt on this page is about desperation. I think that fits with the painting. |
