Tom and I spent over 2 hours in the fine arts pavillion. Overall I thought the show was better this year than some previous years. That means there was more representational work that was, well, representational. There are always some pieces, however, that make me wonder, "How did this get in?" That's especially true when I see the work of talented friends that didn't get accepted. It always helps to see work from the jurors. After we had seen most of the show Tom and I saw the jurors' work. "That explains everything," I said, and we had a good laugh.

I emerged from the art show thirsty and eager for a corn dog. But first things first. We walked by the Minnesota National Guard display and my eye was caught by their very flashy Humvee. Besides, cars aren't what I usually draw and drawing at the fair for me is about pushing myself.
