I love sheep. I have been enthralled by sheep ever since I first came up to Minnesota for graduate school, went to the state fair, and saw them dressed in their little pilot's outfits waiting to be shown.
The outfit consists of a heavy canvas jacket that covers the body, but allows them to walk, recline, and otherwise move about. Then there is the pilot's cap, with great holes for the eyes, ears, and nose. The best pilot's caps have colorful bias binding arond the holes. They are attached in some fashion to the body cloak (here with a large kilt-type safety pin at the back of the neck). The outfit keeps them clean until show time. A little grooming and they are good to go. It was a little warm in the barns, but there were fans everywhere. Typically the barns are much hotter. This sheep rested comfortably. The scrunched up eye really did have that angle. |
