Art's family was still in the lumber business and he took me to the Hedstrom Lumber Mill. It was very exciting to see the logs being stripped and cut into planks. The machinery was deafening, however, and complicated. We walked on grilled catwalks above the belts, grinders, and machines. Later we visited the repair shop where saw blades as tall as I am, were being reground and fixed.
