While waiting for a friend I saw this cactus sitting next to my bench. I was fascinated by the way the needles protruded from the skin.
This was a new journal I made to start the new year. It's 8.5 x 6.5 inches wide. The pages are slightly smaller than that so a page spread is about 16 inches across. In general I don't like landscape books, but this one isn't wider than my square journals so it isn't too hard to hold. I used Strathmore Aquarius II watercolor paper. I really enjoy working on this paper. The 80 lb. sheets are thick enough to be opaque, but thin enough to put a lot of pages in a book and still not have a heavy book. It's nice to watercolor on actual watercolor paper every once in awhile too. |
