While looking for the Winter Carnival treasure my friend Janice and one of her sons came across this dead Barred Owl. She called me the next day and we went to see it and sketch it. It looked like it had gotten soaked in the wet snow storm a couple nights previous and frozen to death, falling forward off its perch into the branches, finally resting face down, horizontally in the branches, 5 feet or so above the ground. Because the path next to the tree was raised slightly we were slightly above the owl when we stood normally.
