journal page

Another one of those prepainted page experiments. The orange and blue were already on the page. This was after my speed drawing session with Heather and Janice, but I couldn't quite get out of the mode so this sketch was also done very quickly. I was still laughing over the hilarious game of speed drawing while I painted this. I felt quite crazy, but powerless to stop laughing. Of course it was at this moment that one of my past journaling students walked by with her young son. I was sitting cross legged on the floor so I had to talk with her, looking up, through tears in my eyes. I definitely need to consider changing my hair style so people don't recognize me.

I mention this story to emphasize how much fun sketching in public with your friends can be. If you're journaling and sketching alone that's great. Most of my journaling is done alone. But if you have some friends who enjoy sketching, get out somewhere together and draw, and have a laugh.
