At home with no live animals to work with I do some quick studies from some of my reference photos of gulls. This is a ring-billed gull. The idea was to sketch quickly sitting back from photos propped up on my desk. I used a Staetdler Pigment Liner and put some watery washes of gouache in at the end. I wanted to work very loosely, hence the note about not wearing my glasses.
This journal is about 6 x 8 inches and contains thick drawing paper for the text pages. The pages aren't sized for watercolor, but I like to make watercolor sketches on it anyway. |
