At the end of a day of art gallery hopping we found the most wonderful old car in the parking lot of the last gallery. I was fascinated by the reflections in its chrome bumper. While my friend asked some questions about art at the gallery I took a moment to sketch and paint a small portion of the car. That evening I collaged the small sketch onto a watercolor card I had pre-painted with acrylic inks before departure. I was constantly amazed, over the course of the trip, at how the prepared backgrounds worked with the sketches and paintings I was creating. The extra card I came home with was white, not prepainted.
