My journal for this project ended up being two volumes. When I was still working in volume one I decorated the spine with beadweaving and embellishment. The theme was growth and new beginnings (our neighbors burnt our garage down on January 1, 2000 and I was trying to focus on positive thoughts in my artwork), hence the use of glass leaves and a root-like fringe structure.

Midway through the year I decided that my project journal was not representative of how I journal. I was still keeping my daily visual journal on the side. It seemed that my project journal was only getting occasional use. I decided that I needed to keep a separate volume that was DAILY, just like my regular visual journals. I made an additional book of the same dimensions and carried it with me for one month before returning to and completing the first volume.

I felt that this second volume represented my journaling process more accurately. When I completed it I beaded the spine with alphabet beads which spell out "offshoot" and continued the plant theme in my beading. I created a box to hold both volumes.
