My friend Laurie and I went sketching by Lake Harriet. There is a Japanese garden there. I did these papery pods with silk slipping out on a new paper (for me): Italia, from Magnani. It's a bright white, 140 lb. cold press watercolor sheet that I really like, BUT the glue doesn't hold between signatures in a case bound book. I made a 32-page sample book with me to test out. I will probably make a sewn-on-the spine sketchbook with this paper at sometime, but I really prefer casebound books so I won't be using this paper much.
It takes gouache well too. Just about everything, in fact. A very nice paper. I enjoyed working on it. |
