Early in the summer I did a sketch of a giant thistle that I've painted from and now carved from. I love these giant plants. They might literally be a pain to walk past, but they are beautiful. They stand in the field, isolated, towering above the other weeds and grasses. They are the most luscious of lavender colors. They are mesmerizingly inviting, with bees swarming about them.
