This is one of those happy accidents that you can use for teaching purposes. I went outside to sketch and nothing was around. Then I saw a bunny in the hedge. I went towards it slowly. Gradually I crouched down. You never know with bunnies around here, they can be skittish or oblivious. This one stayed put. I uncapped my pen and started to sketch. Or tried. No ink came out of the pen. I literally had to incise the drawing into the paper. I thought, "that's OK, I'll make it quick and stylized." Later, when carving I did an outline and thought, "Hey, let's stop there." But no, I had to push it. And that's good, because now it definitely doesn't work and I have already used the series to show my colored pencil students that sometimes you have to push beyond your comfort level and really mess something up, whatever medium you're working with. Of couse I had that in mind the whole time.
